The Human Eye May Act as a Compass?

 Scientists have found that the human eye may be like a compass in this article. As you know a compass works with a magnetic field, and scientist have found that an eye may work very similar. This magneto-receptive is a protein. Its present in one of two ways-one being that it is in every animal on planet Earth. A man named Dr. Reppert from the University of Massachusetts has found that if you remove the protein from the eyes of a fly that it loses its ability to respond to a magnetic field. But, what he also found is if you make the human version of the protein able to go back into the flies eyes , through genetic engineering, the ability returns. It's kind of cool if you think about it. Plus, earlier work has been done in the 1980's by a Dr. Robin Baker. Hundreds of experiments have been done by him and he has found subtle evidence that humans could indirectly have magnetic fields. It could be true, and in my opinion , one of the coolest discoveries I have ever heard of.

Halloween: Trick or Treat?

Halloween is only a few days away! Of course people love to get candy, personally for me I loved getting scared. Scary mazes are super fun to go through and they give you chills, ha ha! Who doesn't love going around and getting candy and trying to find the houses that give out the most candy. Which are better..Girl or guy singers?

Do you have a favorite singer? Do you have a favorite band? Which singers are better females or males?

For me I like a lot of singers but there are some that I do not like. I mostly perfer guy singers because I like deeper voices. But all singers can be good guys or girls. There are some singers that are really good and have an amazing voice! But its not the gender that matters it the singing talent that matters! So who is your favorite singer?

kind of werid, but not really

 Poe wrote some really strange stories. Some of them are weirder than your grandma rapping, but Poe did go through some tough times. His mom and wife both died of tuberculosis and who can blame him for being upset. Writing was probably a good way for him to let out his emotions, and most of his stories were scary or had death. Most of them had both. Both of his fathers rejected him and all the people he loved passed away on him. I don't know why these things happened to him, but it led him to be a great and famous writer. Now, I don't think that is weird at all. 

I do not think Edgar Alan Poe is a disturbed man, and you can't judge everybody based on their writing. The point on writing is to be creative, and sometimes people write disturbing stories to let out their anger or emotion. Edgar Alan Poe did write a lot of disturbing stories, but maybe this was because he wanted to let out anger like others or to just be creative. When people write stories they don't want to write anything boring so they may write about death or maybe even Cinderella. Most of the time it's not what the people write about it's how they write it. So I don't think that people should judge writers based on what they write, maybe one day you will write something like that too. Does that mean you're disturbed?

Disturbed Authors or Not?

    Authors that makes "sick and twisted" books or navels, do not have to be a disturbed person to write disturbing stories. For example, Edgar Allan Poe, was a great very intelligent man. He had a lot of deaths around him, yes, but that does not mean he want over the bend!  He might have been emotionally troubled, because of what he'd seen through out his life. If you don't know who he is, he was a great man who wrote dark poems and short stories. When he was young, his mother died of Tuberculosis. Later on in life, his adopted mom, brother, and wife (and cousin) died of Tuberculosis. But, out side of his scary, horrific, stories and and his horrible life, he was a caring and wonderful husband to his cousin Virginia.
     Another example, would be in the movie "Nightmare on Elm Street" by Wes Craven. That is a crazy disturbing movie, but he's the farthest this being a loony! All I'm trying to say is that people that make scary, disturbing, fearful movies or stories does not mean they are disturbing or crazy! It's called being creative, using your fears or imagination in your work!

Edgar Allen Poe normal or not?

Edgar Allen Poe had an original writing style and was very intelligent. I don't think he was crazy. I just think he had a good sense of imagination and was very creative! I don't think anyone could recreate his style of writing. Since Edgar lived a very bad child hood it inspired him to write scary and weird stories. Even though it is weird that he married his 12 year old cousin he lived a hard life. But Edgar Allen Poe will always be remembered and was a legendary writer!

The Trouble with Poe

What is wrong with Edgar Allan Poe? Was he a crazy mad person? Was he disturbed and twisted? Or was he completely normal? These are some of the questions we may never have answers to but we can try and answer them. Make a theory about what was going on in Poe's mind when he wrote these disturbing stories and poems. What was he thinking?

Personally, I don't think Edgar Allan Poe was a twisted person but he was a little disturbed. I think he wrote those kink of stories because he had so many losses in his life. First, his mother, whom he loved dearly. Then, his second mother, who took him in after he was orphaned. And then, his wife Virginia, he love her and tried to take good care of her but he could not save her. He wrote short stories and poems like Annabel Lee and The Masque of the Red Death sort of on these losses. The poem Annabel Lee about Virginia and how the angels were jealous of their love and took her away from him. The Masque of the Red Death, a combination of the Bubonic Plague and Tuberculosis. He was not crazy but had a sad and depressing life.

Take the author Suzanne Collins for example, she wrote a trilogy about romance and kids fighting to their death. Loved ones being taken away just because one president didn't like the first rebellion. Does that make her crazy? Is she out of her minds writing about such things? No, she is not! She is not disturbed either but its because of her creative thinking that she wrote such books. Books, that once you start there`s no letting go till the end.

Great writers don't ask people about what they should write about but instead they write there heart out. They write what they want to write. That's what writing is all about, writing with your heart not your mind.

Edgar Allen Poe: Crazy or Not Crazy?

I do not think Edgar Allan Poe is a psychopath. I think when he writes hes bringing back past experiences into his writing, like his wife dying or his foster father being horrible to him. He would be a true psychopath if he actually lived these story he tells, like when he murders people. I don't think its fair to judge an author by what he/she writes because, all they have is a really good imagination. Anyways if you say hes crazy and you've read his stories then you must have enjoyed them some how to keep on reading them. He was just a man who had many experiences and put these experiences in his writing because he just had a tough life.

What Is The Most Expensive College In The World?

What is the most expensive college in the world? Well, Sarah Lawrence College is the most expensive. It costs $57,556 ! Why on Earth would anyone pay this much money? Apparently, this college has a lot of history. It was founded by a man named William Van Duzer. Sarah Lawrence is a private independent college in Southern Winchester County, New York. It was founded in 1926 as a woman's college and became known as an coeducational institution. This college is well known for emphasizing its scholarships. It was named "Liberal Arts College" of the year.

What good colleges are there near San Diego?

I love San Diego and I have always wanted to go to college in San Diego. So I looked up different colleges in San Diego and there was: San Diego city college, Argosy universtiy San Diego, California college San Diego, and San Diego state. I decided to research San Diego State College. It seams like a very nice school. It is close to the beach and Sea World. To apply for this college the registration fee is appromixly $2,488. For books it costs $1,244. If your living on campus, for one trimester, for food and housing it costs $8,787. For transportation it costs $731. Apparently college is VERY expensive. I was told by my parents going to college is and opportunity of a life time and it is worth every single penny you pay. If you want to go to college in San Diego I suggest this college!

How much Does it Cost to go to the University of Florida?

So I wanted to know how much does it cost to go to University of Florida. Personally, I want to go to Yale or Harvard but UF is not that bad. Its listed among the top 10 universities in the U.S.A. Its a big one too (I know because the city its in, I used to live there). This university is in central Florida in the city of Gainesville. UF received $619 million for its growing population. UF offers many different courses like medical degrees or law school. But its mostly famous for its medical schools like the The School of Medicine or Shands Hospital. People from all around the world come here to study. It has a huge campus, student apartments and many places students can go on weekends. Students can go to football games on Saturdays to watch the Gators play. There are many other things to do too, like Lake Wauburg. You can never be bored in this place. So that brings us back to my question how much does all of this luxury cost? Not a lot I would say. So if you are an:

Undergrad on/off campus: $19,830 (includes: books/supplies, tution/fees, cell phone, housing, food, transportation, clothing and personal/health insurance.)

What are the Best Schools In Sourthern CA?

Well this personally for me is one of my favorite schools. I've always liked to perform like theater and once i looked up performing arts colleges in Sourthen California USC came up. They are extremely dedicated to all different arts. It majors in everything though not just arts[law,accounting,dentistry,ect.]. It is a very well known school, and has a very nice campus. My second choice is also a very well known school and it is very well known for fashion design and I absolutely adore fashion design and majors in almost everything that has to do with fashion. The school is called FIDM The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise. It has all different location in Sourthern CA like Orange county and LA, and they both have gorgeous campuses Both of these schools are amazing and you should check them out. What is a Good College in Ireland?

   

Well as some of you may know, I’m Irish. And it’s always been my dream to go to Ireland at least. So I decided to see what a good college in Ireland would be. When I researched it, I found the college NUI Galway in Ireland.

                The NUI College has more than 16,000 students! The subjects they teach there are; arts, social science, and Celtic studies; business, public policy and law; engineering and informatics; medicine, nursing and health sciences; and science. What I found a little weird about this college is that it doesn’t have a mascot.

                As you can see the campus is very large but, the buildings are fantastic!

Isn’t this beautiful? I mean yes it’s old but I think that’s what makes it so beautiful!

I’m thinking about going to NUI because they have so much to offer! For example, Galway was ranked one of the 25 top travel destinations to visit in Europe by “Trip Advisor”, and only one of two Irish cities to feature in the list, Galway has simply got it all! They have sports such as; Gaelic game (football), soccer, rugby, and water sports. During my research, I found that if you want to go to NUI, they will help you find a place to live, either on campus, off campus, apartment, house, whatever you’d prefer.

      Now, I would love to learn about my Irish heritage. And here at NUI I can do that! They have a course called: Arts with Irish Studies. A random act of kindness

This Sunday at my church in the sermon, we learned that random acts of kindness can make others around you really happy. So I decided to do nice things around my house. So this week I vacuumed our house without my mom asking, I dusted all around our house, I also picked up my sisters room, and I did all the dishes that were sitting out on the counter. And it is true my mom was really happy when she saw what I did. My sister gave me a big hug thanking me and it made me feel good about myself that I helped around our house.

How I Changed the World with an Act of Kidness

I said on my last post that i was going to help someone in need, to help make the world a better place. Guess what I did?! What happened was I was about to leave from P.E until I found a watch on the ground. I thought about what to do with it, it was really nice and I would be devastated if I had lost it so, I decided to help that person in need of their watch and I turned it in to the P.E teachers. The P.E teacher said thank you for turning it in and I thought whoever lost this watch would be very happy to get it back. I felt really good with my decision and that's how my project for being nice went. :)

How my Experiment Went...

        In my English class, we had to do a post about how we would help the world be a nicer place. So, I chose to tell people that they look nice to give people a bust to their day. The first day, I told five people they look nice around my school, and I noticed that they seemed happy. Now, of course I don't know that me telling them they look nice made them happy, but that's what I noticed. The second day, I told three people they looked nice, and I heard two of them tell other people they looked nice. (you would call that copying but if they are making other people happy, more power to them!)

       It made me feel good that I made people happy. I think I'm going to keep doing this.

     
      I also noticed, the two days I did my experiment, I heard more and more people say it as well! Which helps make the world a nicer place!

So I gave food to the homeless yesterday, and that went pretty well I guess. It was going well until the guy I gave food to started complaining to me. He was complaining because I put hot Cheetos in the bag with his other food, and how he didn't like them and wasn't going to eat them. For some reason I felt bad that I put them in there, but i don't think that I deserved to be yelled at especially since I was trying to help the guy out.

So, I forgot to pick up pieces of trash the first day. However, today I seen little pieces of candy wrappers, tissues, and paper. I picked up at least 7 wrappers 1 tissue and 3 pieces of crumbled up paper. I felt so helpful ! I cant believe how inconsiderate people are of our campus and the world. If I continue to pick up trash, I'm almost positive our campus and even the world will be a tiny bit more cleaner.

I have decided that I am going to change the world by giving food to the homeless. I'm going to do it today after school, and as much as possible after that.

How to Make the World a Better Place

Have you seen trash on the freeways? We’ll that’s from self centered people not giving a care about the world. The way I am going to make the world a better place is by picking up trash. This will help the world be a better place by it not being so dirty and trashy. Now, you litterbugs out there, KNOCK IT OFF! Litterbugs are people that are no good. But, the way this will effect the world, is by people not being so carless about what they do.

Making the World a Nicer Place

      America, look at our country, it's getting out if control! We need to make the world a better place. And to do that we have to help it along. The way I am going to help our country is by telling people they look good today. This should bust people’s confidence and make them feel good. People these days, aren’t very nice, they are rude, ignorant, and self centered. But, I’m going to change that. If I do this every day, I believe I should be making people’s days happier. That’s how I’ll help make the world a better place.

Litterbugs

Even Albert Einstein says the world is becoming a junk yard for human liter. Now I am not saying that everybody does it but most people do. For example someone will eat a pack of crackers and toss it on the sidewalk even though the trash is three feet away. They will just think it will be blown away by the wind ( and by the way its not that hard to walk three feet, so STOP being lazy). But where do you think it goes after it is blown away, not out of this world. That piece of trash can land anywhere. By the way littering can hurt wildlife.



So I asked my mom if we could walk around the neighborhood and pick up at least 20 pieces of trash on Saturday. So after coming home from church on Saturday, my mom, my brother and I were off to our mission. We found candy wrappers, straws, plastic cup (only 3) and some coke cans. I total we found 22 pieces of trash its still too much for a small area. So a helpful advice to keeping you community clean is well by recycling and if you see a piece of trash flying around pick it up an throw it away. It will not do you harm but help make this world a better place.
