Are you a fan of Facebook, Twitter, Skype, Bebo, or Myspace? Most everyone is! But some people don't know the dangers of being on these kind of websites. Many kids and teenagers have been kidnapped, harrased, and killed because of giving too much information away on Facebook. Personally, I think that Facebook is too dangerous and scary for kids my age. That is also why I don't have a Facebook. A 12 Year old girl felt ugly and worthless. She had a fake name and picture on Myspace because she didn't like how she looked. A man who was 29 became her friend on Myspace and began to talk to her. He pretended to be nice and got her to reveal information like where she lived. So she agreed to meet up with him at the park. Little did she know that she would never return. Sarah's mom didn't know where she was. Days past by and the police finally found her. She was dead in a ditch. The man sexually abused her and killed her. That is one reason why I don't like social networks. But if you are on a website like Facebook, remember not to give out precious information. Or trust people online who you don't know. The internet is a scary place. P.s That story was told to me by my mom. I tried looking it up to find more information but couldn't find anything.
That story is heartbreaking. Although, Facebook was a part of the problem, the real issue was that she gave out information that she shouldn't have; we have to be careful with the information we choose to show on these sites. You did a very good job at relaying that fact Amanda!
